MAINTENACE, REPAIR & OVERHAUL DIRECTORY ADVERTORIAL PROFILE MTU Maintenance - Repair beats replacement

MTU Maintenance is the largest independent maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider for commercial engines. As an affiliate of MTU Aero Engines, Germany’s leading engine manufacturer and a global player, MTU Maintenance benefits from almost 100 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of engines, as well as extensive experience in serving a wide range of commercial airlines worldwide.

MTU Maintenance’s scope of services ranges from standard MRO services for commercial aero engines and stationary gas turbines to Total Engine Care (TEC). Answering an increasing demand for outsourcing of component repairs, MTU has substantially invested in the business segment Repair Services.

Its spectrum ranges from single engine component and accessory repairs, engine module overhaul to Total Part Care (TPC®), an innovative all-round parts management service package with guaranteed parts availability and serviceability – worldwide and 24/7. The portfolio covers parts and module repairs for CF34 series, CF6-50, CF6-80C2, CFM56-3/- 5B/- 7, PT6A, PW200, PW300, PW500, PW2000 and V2500 series engines as well as GE LM series industrial gas turbines.

Living up to MTU Maintenance’s motto “repair beats replacement”, Repair Services’ goal is to repair engine parts wherever possible, by constantly developing new repair technologies. Capabilities range from standard manual repairs, OEM licensed repairs to independent MTUPlus repair solutions. These unique proprietary DER repairs with focus on high-cost items help customers to reduce maintenance costs by minimizing scrap rates or improving the part’s durability, functionality and performance - even compared to new parts. Examples include MTUPlus Airfoil Replacement Technology, MTUPlus Tip Protection, MTUPlus Under Platform Coating or MTUPlus ERCoatnt Erosion Coating - just to name a few. For this purpose, Repair Services is supported by a fully dedicated repair development team with engine system competence based on long lasting MRO experience and vast OEM know-how.

With its Total Part Care (TPC®) program, MTU Maintenance offers a carefree tailormade service solution covering repair and overhaul including SB incorporation and scrap replacement, technical support services, supply of new, repaired or used spare parts and “just-in-time” logistics services. Benefits include guaranteed availability, increased predictability and lower cost thanks to MTUPlus repair schemes.

A further component of Repair Services are MTUs Teardown Services. MTU Maintenance has specialized in recovering high- value, yet inexpensive, replacement parts from retired engines, one example of which is high pressure compressor and turbine airfoils. Once repaired to exacting standards, these parts are installed in engines which would have otherwise required expensive new part replacements. Thanks to innovative repair processes developed and continuously optimized by MTU, a broad range of engine parts can be refurbished. The reliability and quality of such refurbished parts matches that of new parts. MTU Maintenance carries out the entire range of services on behalf of its customers: from the teardown and disassembly of a runout engine to repair of the parts to the most exacting quality standards. Included in the service chain is the breakdown of modules into components that are then cleaned and inspected to segregate scrap parts from serviceable ones.

MTU Maintenance has a worldwide network of companies with high-tech repairs mostly performed in Germany, in Hanover, Berlin and Munich, whereas labourintensive airfoil repairs are done at Airfoil Services Sdn. (ASSB) in Malaysia, a joint venture with Lufthansa Technik. MTU Maintenance Vancouver Ltd. is the Centre of Excellence for engine accessory repairs. To meet our customers requirements we continuously develop our repair capabilities network, e.g. with our location in Zhuhai, China, and the recently opened location in Poland.

Thanks to its superior engine know-how and its staff’s experience and dedication, the MTU Maintenance Group is one step ahead in providing leading-edge technical advantage and service solutions to its customers.
