900B EDGE PROFILE COMPARATOR OPTICAL INSTRUMENT from H&L Instruments
The H&L Instruments Model 900B/BE Edge Profile Comparator is a compact, self-contained, optical instrument for the in- progress and final inspection of the leading and trailing edges of turbine engine fan and compressor blades, enlarging the edge profile image by 20X or 40X. To check the airfoils on-wing, the lightweight unit can move from the bench to the flight line. The operator takes the hand-held, solid- state camera and passes it once along each airfoil, comparing the image with a transparency fixed to the monitor. The operator can compare the real-time magnified image of the airfoil edge with the desired profile on the transparency, and determine whether repairs are necessary.
