Tip: Ask your friends and relatives if you can borrow some old containers or even furniture from them. Search online, scour markets & yard sales and even re- cycle your own drink bottles.


Before you make an appointment with your floral designer make sure you have a budget in mind and bring with you any color samples or pictures that you have collected.


Tip: Go to your local home improvement store and put together paint chips to create your color palette.


If you are able to rent interesting tables, such as farm tables to incorporate into your reception you can add interest by making these a focal point. If you have multiple bridesmaids consider having extra vases pre-set with water in them on these tables and during cocktails your bridal party bouquets can be placed there. With a lot of added candles you can wisely decorate your head tables.


Another option is to make these tables more extravagant, focusing the attention on this area of the reception and without skimping on the other tables you can make them a little less dramatic.


Don’t fall for the old misconception that long tables are more difficult for socializing, because in reality you are two feet closer to the guests across the table than at a round table. Long tables are ideal for doing smaller containers with only a few stems of flowers in them – spread them down the table and fill in with candles for a huge impact at a great value.


Use cost effective ideas to add interest to your tables with menus or napkins and if


necessary avoid higher rental prices on items such as chargers, since they are removed after the first course! Rent a special glass for your water glass and use standard wine glasses, because the water glass stays on the table longer.


Choose an assortment of patterns from a fabric store and use pinking sheers to cut out napkins, these can add a pop of color and insert your style on to the tables. Fold them under your plate or menu card and have them hang over the edge of the table to make sure they are seen from all angles.
