Mergers and acquisitions in the retail sector continue apace. Here are some of the latest deals to come to the attention of the Catalogue e-business news desk.
TheOutnet.com, the designer outlet sister website of luxury-fashion etailer Net-a-Porter, bought the assets of
Koodos.com from E-Trader Group. Following a strategic review of the business, E-Trader Group, which also owns clearance site
StockShifters.com, disposed of its Koodos assets and subsequently placed the business into administration. As part of the deal, TheOutnet. com acquired the Koodos trademark, domain name and customer database.

High-street chemist
Lloydspharmacy has acquired living-aids cataloguer/etailer Betterlife Healthcare. The acquisition gives Lloydspharmacy an 80 percent shareholding and will see two of Betterlife’s founding directors, Derek Abrahams and Grant Abrahams, remain with the business.
The management team of The Gro Company, the firm behind the Grobaby sleeping bags, has bought a “significant stake” in the business. The company’s founders and owners, Rob and Ouvrielle Holmes, retain a majority shareholding. The buy-in was conducted by momentum corporate finance.
Nigel’s Eco Store, an online seller of environmentally friendly products, has acquired
EcoCentric.co.uk, an eco- homewares etailer. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, was completed in the summer and the two businesses have already been merged under one roof at Nigel’s Eco Store’s Hove base. The two websites will continue to be operated as separate brands.
