The Overseer sees change much like she sees opportunities. Change creates havoc in the way “things are done”. Change should wait until she is ready to accommodate it.

For the Doer change simply is not possible. She is far too busy doing what has to be done now to accommodate anything new. She will ignore it. • THINKING

Only when the owner can see the business, as separate from herself, can she ever hope to be free from the daily responsibility of running it.

• OPERATIONAL PROCESSES The Entrepreneur creates them. They are part of her system. They are the gears in her machine.

The Overseer organizes them. She does not always see them as part of a whole; she uses them to get things done.

The Doer plays with them. If one thing does not work, she tries another. There is no real consistency to them, and one crisis creates a new operational process, until something else happens, so she can adjust it or create a new one.

• OPPORTUNITIES The Entrepreneur finds them or invents them. They are her main source of entertainment. They are her constant companion.

The Overseer sees opportunities differently. They are problems for her. They mess up her comfortable world. They represent more things for her to manage. This can’t be good.

The Doer greets opportunities with suspicion. They are overwhelming for a person who is far too busy doing what she is doing now. Opportunities are distracting.

• CHANGE It is the Entrepreneur who expects change. She relishes it because change creates more opportunities. It is the fodder for her imagination. Change is a wonderful thing to an entrepreneur.
