Short walking trail around reconstructions of Stone Age, Iron Age and
Dark Age monuments including a wooden henge, prehistoric huts
and Saxon long house modelled on the remains of a similar house
excavated nearby. There is also a café and country store in Milfield
village selling guides to the trail.

One of the most important strongholds on the border, Norham was
besieged 13 times in its long and bloody history and Robert the Bruce
unsuccessfully blockaded the castle for a whole year. Today the ruins,
battered by Scottish cannon, are still impressive and inspired Sir Walter
Scott to write his epic poem Marmion.

WHITEHOUSE FARM CENTRE
The old railway line along the Tweed valley may have gone but the
Golden Age of steam is remembered at this museum housed in
Visit Northumberland’s largest farm attraction with hundreds of
Norham’s old station. Features include a signal box, porter’s room,
animals from the more traditional to the exotic. You can hug a
bunny or a rat or stroke anything from a snake to a skunk! Children

can explore the adventure playground or Farmer’s Den soft play
