Heat shimmers up from the African plains. T ere has been no rain for a long time. Yet baobab trees stand tall and green. T ese trees can survive for years without rain. T ey have a special structure. In their long, bottle-shaped trunks, they store huge amounts of water. When the weather gets dry, these trees use their stored water. T e baobab, mangrove, and rainbow eucalyptus are three of many types of trees around the world. Trees have been thriving on this planet for a lot longer than humans. Where would we be without them?
