(continued on page 8) Historic Campaign Exceeds Goal

The TMAF Endowment for Innovation Campaign (EIC) has raised $1 million in its first phase, which ended Dec. 31, 2016.

“More than 100 TMA and TMA Alliance members and other donors gave generously in their belief that they could do something extraordinary to improve the health of all Texans,” remarked Deborah A. Fuller, MD, TMAF president. Donors to the campaign were recognized at the TMA Winter Conference on Jan. 28 in Austin where the campaign results were announced.

The second phase of the campaign continues in 2017 with the goal of raising an additional $250,000 by year’s end.

“The EIC was launched in the Fall of 2015 to build the TMAF General Endowment to provide a new stream of funding for bold initiatives with more widespread and visible impacts and secure TMAF’s operational capacity,” stated Susan M. Pike, MD, TMAF board member and Development Committee co-chair.

In 2015, the General Endowment had approximately $900,000 in net assets, which included the lead campaign gift of $50,000, donated in 2014. The overall campaign goal is to more than double these net assets to more than $2 million.

At the completion of the campaign, the investment income from the General Endowment will provide a new stream of funding to support a strategic approach to grant making and elevate proven efforts by making grants that replicate, scale, leverage and expand.

Thank you if you have already donated to the quiet phase of the EIC. If you’ve not yet donated to the EIC and would like to learn more or make a gift, please contact our executive director, Lisa Stark Walsh, at (800) 880-1300, ext. 1666, or lisa.walsh@texmed.org.
