This leader training workshop teaches you how to lead the six-session Families in Action video and discussion program for parents and their young teenagers. You’ll learn tips for leading family education courses in general, plus you’ll gain an understanding of the contents and principles of this program.


A Families in Action class has two components. Adults learn parenting skills in one room in a segment called Active Parenting of Teens. Meanwhile, in a separate room, teens and preteens are learning complementary character education skills in a course called Teens in Action. At the end of each session, the two groups come together for an activity.


This comprehensive workshop will teach you: • How to implement 2 courses at once • Concrete skills to open communication between teens and parents


• How to prevent power struggles • Freedom & responsibility: 2 sides of the same coin


• Preventing alcohol abuse and other drug use • Effective ways to discuss sexuality
