VISION STATEMENT

AFS will lead the North American metalcasting industry in advocacy, education and innovation.

MISSION STATEMENT The American Foundry Society exists to provide and promote

knowledge and services that strengthen the metalcasting industry for the ultimate benefit of its customers and society.

Member Involvement

AFS benefits from an active volunteer base that advocates regionally for the metalcasting industry through chapter activities, fosters innovation through committee research and development and promotes education through student outreach and career development.

The former Chapter Officers Conference has been revamped as the Leadership Summit to reflect the diverse group of volunteers, including local chapter officers/directors, technical/management committee leadership, and those who steer special interest groups such as Future Leaders of Metalcasting and Women in Metalcasting. This summit allows everyone to share with each other and learn the skills needed to engage members at all levels and build a stronger sustainable volunteer base.

AFS chapters were active in local efforts through regional conferences, chapter meetings and other sponsored events and tours. Our chapters are at the front line with regard to student outreach efforts and hold dozens of metalcasting demonstrations a year. They also are active in hosting local and national officials to tour metalcasting facilities and learn more about the industry,

To assist chapters in providing robust programming during meetings and conferences, AFS has created a Speakers Bureau, available at www.afsinc.org, that lists more than 100 available speakers with metalcasting and AFS expertise.

This year, AFS has appointed staff liasons to our student chapters at various universities to help keep
