S.T.A.R.S. IN 2016

‘Taking S.T.A.R.S. to the Ice’ seminar

We can recognize that top skaters are also excellent athletes while also realizing that having great athletic ability does not automatically make you a top skater. If you’re a novice competitor who can do 30 push- ups, that may not get you to the U.S. Championships, but wouldn’t it be interesting to know that every novice competitor who made it to the national level could do 30 push-ups? “Taking S.T.A.R.S. to the Ice” is all about relating athleticism and athletic ability to how you learn and perform on-ice skills. S.T.A.R.S. tests have been carefully selected to be relevant to the skills singles, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating athletes perform on the ice, and S.T.A.R.S. rewards athletes who are well-rounded in the areas of agility, balance, coordination, strength and power. Interested in learning more about this prorgam? All participating S.T.A.R.S. athletes, as well as their coaches and parents, are invited to take part in this interactive seminar, where they will learn how specifi c aspects of their off -ice training and athletic abilities will help them perform better on the ice, learn new skills quicker and stay resistant to inju- ries. Visit www.starscombine.org and check out upcoming event dates and locations, learn about S.T.A.R.S. and discover new resources for athletes, parents and coaches.
