Kiamichi Electric Cooperative (KEC) is committed to providing reliable and affordable electric service to members in Latimer, LeFlore, Pittsburg, Pushmataha and Atoka counties.

The people and businesses that purchase electricity from Kiamichi Electric are considered member-owners of the co-op. Each member—regardless of how much electricity they purchase – has an equal say in how the cooperative is operated.

To exercise their right, Kiamichi Electric members are encouraged to attend co-op meetings and vote in co-op elections.

Kiamichi Electric service territory is divided into seven districts. Members within each district meet every two years to choose a fellow member to represent their interests on the Kiamichi Electric board of trustees. KEC board members set policy and oversee cooperative business.

Through local leadership and control, Kiamichi Electric Cooperative members can rest assured their electric co-op remains focused on the needs of its members and its rural communities.

who dedicate their lives to keeping the lights on in our local communities. Sixteen linemen maintain over 4,092 miles of line in Kiamichi Electric Cooperative service territory. Without them, our world would be a lot darker— and not nearly as comfortable.

E Remember to thank a lineman on April 10

very year, we take the time to thank our extraordinary linemen

the worst possible weather the lineman's work day can last 48 hours or longer. Yet they stay at it, repairing high voltage lines until electricity is restored to each and every co-op member.

By Brett Orme CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

At Kiamichi Electric, we depend on our entire staff to keep things running smoothly, but on April 10, 2017, we honor linemen and linewomen across the U.S. who often face dangerous and challenging situations, so our lives may be a little bit brighter and safer every day. Your electric co-op linemen repair damaged lines and maintain critical infrastructure that keep the power flowing to our homes and businesses. Without their hard work and commitment to the job, Kiamichi Electric would not thrive. No matter the time—day or night, weekday or weekend—if the lights go out, so do your co-op linemen.

It's not a glamorous job. Just ask the family members who have to watch their loved one get out of bed at 2 am and go to work. Perhaps you've seen them raising their bucket trucks in the wind and rain, or clambering up an electric pole in freezing, icy conditions. During

operation roundup

It's a not a stretch to say they put blood, sweat and tears into their job. Furthermore, shortcuts are not allowed. As one of the top ten most dangerous jobs in the U.S.,

even one careless misstep can be fatal.

The tough working conditions and ever present danger builds strong bonds between linemen. At Kiamichi Electric, our linemen are always ready and willing to volunteer when a neighboring community, county or state is in need following a major outage. They know that when the shoe is on the other foot, their electric co-op peers will respond in kind.

Kiamichi Electric linemen play a critical role in the success of your co- op and the quality of your life. As we celebrate them on National Lineman Appreciation Day on April 10, I encourage you to reach out and thank the line workers that light out lives.

Remember, your power works because they do. Use #ThankALineman on social media to show your support.
