IRON METALLURGY 201 July 20-21 • Schaumburg, IL

This practical course makes clear the reasons why metalcasting personnel “do what they do” in relation to iron metallurgy. It examines gray and ductile iron structure and properties, how to read single and two- component phase diagrams and recognize characteristics from microstruc- tures, solidifi cation behaviors and reactions, and iron casting defects specifi cally related to metallurgy.

CONCISE CASTINGS

In this (edited) transcript of his workshop, John Campbell puts forth his views on casting topics, including entrainment, bifi lms and their effect on casting properties, improving casting technology, pouring systems, and the ablation casting process.

QUALITY CASTINGS

John Campbell’s memoir of his experience working with the Cosworth Casting Process revisits the events that led to his involvement with the process, which has been used in the production of V6 and V8 cylinder blocks. This is a from-the-heart story that marries technical expertise with the love of the industry.
