A POWERFUL PARTNERSHIP THE RIGHT MOBILITY TOOLS
CHIME collaborated with PC Connection, Inc., HP, and AMD to optimize their environment with the HP Elite family of products. These products included EliteDesk Mini desktops. As a result, employees not only require fewer devices, but now the one they rely on weighs less than their previous portable. CHIME also introduced EliteBook Revolve notebooks, combining both a traditional notebook functionality with the convenience of a tablet.
“I carry this device as my primary computer. It allows me to do everything through one light mobile device, yet serves a big laptop function. A special thanks to PC Connection, Inc. for partnering up with HP to bring it all together with great mobility tools.” Russ Branzell, CEO and President of CHIME
CHIME has EliteDesk Minis with AMD processors in the home office. These are powerful machines despite a very small footprint— something the team really appreciates. PC Connection, Inc. also outfitted offices with 22" high definition LCD monitors, two per staff member, to help increase productivity. HP EliteBook Revolve users now have docking stations for a full desktop operating environment, and the flexibility to unplug, pack, and go.
Office 365 allows users to walk around the office untethered and continue working exactly where they left off at any time, in any location—even when they arrive home.
“After a consultation with PC Connection, Inc. we put our staff in touch with the right tools, the right software–the productivity tools, if you will—to be extremely productive.” Keith Fraidenburg, MBA, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer
The HP Elite family of products and Microsoft Office 365 addressed CHIME’s need for flexibility. Once the team was equipped with the right technology, they supported the organization, its mission, and its members with greater effectiveness and increased efficiency.
“The tools we were provided, all of the equipment and software, made it all possible. We never missed a beat of productivity.” Susan Aldrich, Vice President and Chief of Staff
NEW CONSIDERATIONS
With no full-time technical support, CHIME wants to stay ahead of issues, ensure equipment is uniform, ease serviceability, and minimize the problems associated with different software, malware, and security.
In addition to optimizing the existing infrastructure, CHIME wants to move data from an on-premises file server to the cloud. Users, particularly those that are remote, will need 24 x 7 x 365 access to data via OneDrive. CHIME intends to capitalize on the power of OneDrive, both in convenience and capability.
“A big benefit for us is all that back end technical work now happens somewhere else. It doesn’t happen within the organization; it enables the organization to actually use consumer-based tools rather than what it was using in the past, which was a commercial-based solution.” Russ Branzell, CEO and President of CHIME
CHIME credits the partnership with PC Connection, Inc. for helping them become proactive in managing technology, rather than stuck in a reactive “catch up” mode.
“Technology changes so fast these days, if you aren’t staying ahead of it you’re constantly behind, and it feels like you’re swimming upstream. We don’t want to be in that position again, and PC Connection, Inc. taught us some valuable lessons.” Keith Fraidenburg, MBA, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer
SECURITY CHALLENGES SOLVED
CHIME wanted to continue to support their membership in real-time, but still be mindful of keeping their information safe—particularly for their remote staff who travel frequently. Devices would often travel outside office walls, on planes, and cross-country.
“PC Connection, Inc. has been so helpful and provided us with invaluable guidance and technical support.” Russ Branzell, CEO and President of CHIME
Together, PC Connection, Inc. and HP discussed security and cyber security concerns with CHIME, keeping in mind that any recommendations had to be manageable without a dedicated technical person. CHIME shares the same concern as their members—keeping devices secure without sacrificing usability.
Fraidenburg summarizes the scenario as a triangle with three facets: usability, security, and manageability.
