CASE Study

BUILDING ON SUCCESS The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), the premier professional association for healthcare IT leaders, is determined to move the industry toward a digitized healthcare system where better care at lower costs and higher quality is the new standard. CHIME leaders recognize the need for the proper tools and solutions to support this transformation.

CHIME is recognized as a trusted resource, leader, and go-to organization with regard to technology for the healthcare environment. When the organization wanted to drive collaboration, share documents, and easily access email without dialing in and configuring VPNs, they enlisted the advice of PC Connection, Inc. Working together, the team concluded that Microsoft Office 365 offered the necessary tools, addressed the flexibility, and eliminated the traditional software management ritual.

The effort yielded savings in the six-figure range, advanced their technology posture, and equipped CHIME with the most current tools. Microsoft Exchange Online and the Office 365 applications worked effortlessly. The automatic updates and support for mobile workers across the globe met CHIME’s cloud-based, minimal maintenance, and support criteria. The solution also helped the organization move from client- to cloud-based infrastructure and scale to their growing, decentralized environment.

“In partnership with PC Connection, Inc. we transitioned seamlessly to the cloud—quite effectively, and quite a bit better than I ever dreamed it would be.” Russ Branzell, CEO and President of CHIME

PARTNERSHIP CHIME Trusts PC Connection, Inc. to Improve IT Efficiency and Quality of Care

Thanks to their previous technology deployment with PC Connection, Inc., the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) paved the way to the cloud using Office 365—ensuring everyone could work efficiently. CHIME supports traditional office space and employees across the country who need to access databases, share documents, coordinate schedules, and more. With the deployment of Office 365, they are now able to collaborate and access individual accounts, documents, files, Outlook, and email regardless of the location. Satisfied with these sizable accomplishments, CHIME set its sights on further IT sophistication.

STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE

The organization is determined to eliminate infrastructure management across the entire environment of office- and remote-based home employees. They currently maintain 100% cloud-based tools that enable direct connection with their staff anywhere, anytime.

After a rewarding migration to Office 365, CHIME realized that their software was only as good as the hardware they were using—which in this case was severely outdated. To truly optimize their environment and increase productivity, CHIME needed to take another step with their technology refresh. Under the guidance of PC Connection, Inc. CHIME worked to address security and aging hardware. The teams enlisted a technical consultant from HP and began to evaluate machine updates, policies, and procedures.

ON THE MOVE

Working closely with PC Connection, Inc. and their partners HP and AMD, CHIME procured modern equipment to replace their outdated hardware. The implementation included HP EliteBook Revolve notebooks that work particularly well for staff that travel as well as remote employees.

CHIME was able to relocate staff into a new facility with minimal infrastructure with which to contend. The office is free from hard cable; the wireless environments handle desktops, multifunction printers, and copiers—all through cloud-based solutions and Wi-Fi.

“It only takes about 20 minutes to load all the cloud-based solutions, connect everybody, connect them to the wireless print devices, hand a new mobile device over to an employee, and they‘re ready to go.” Russ Branzell, CEO and President of CHIME

With all the new equipment, the team hit the ground running and was back to work the same day as the move. Users were able to access their account, documents, files, Outlook, and email immediately after deployment. According to Susan Aldrich, Vice President and Chief of Staff, “The learning curve was quick. We all were thrown in the deep end, and we all learned to swim very, very quickly. It’s just been a really great experience for us.”
