OLYMPIC TEAM LEADERS
KIKI KELLEY
Greco-Roman Team Leader Christina “Kiki” Kelley of Minneapolis, Minn., is serving as Greco-Roman Team Leader for USA Wrestling for the 2013- 2016 Olympic cycle, taking leadership in building our Greco-Roman program lead- ing into the Rio de Janiero Olympics. She has led the team at the 2013, 2014 and 2015 World Championships, and will be the leader for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
During the three years she has served
as Team Leader, the USA has been led by two-time World bronze medalist Andy Bisek. The USA has placed ninth in 2013, 12th in 2014 and 13th in 2015 at the World Championships. She has worked closely with National Greco-Roman Coach Matt Lindland and his staff. Kelley has been a strong supporter of the U.S. Greco-Roman program in a number of ways. She was the sponsor of a top international Greco-Roman dual meet event, the Kiki Cup, which was held in Colorado Springs, Colo., for three years.
In 2013, Kelley was instrumental in renaming the event the Jack Pinto Cup, in loving memory of the six-year-old wrestler who was tragically killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012.
Kelley has also sponsored a number of other initiatives for Greco-Roman Team USA, which have provided additional training and competition opportunity. She has also become an international ambassador for our nation, specifically strengthening our relationship with the wrestling federation and the people of Iran. When she attended the Greco- Roman World Cup in Iran, she became one of the few women to attend wrestling in that country. She was also able to do a personal tour of Iran on behalf of wrestling.
KYRA BARRY Women’s Team Leader
Kyra Tirana Barry of New York, N.Y., has served as the Team Leader for women’s wrestling during the 2013-2016 quadrenni- um, serving in this role for three World Championships and the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During the three years as Team
Leader, the USA has won nine World medals, including two gold medals by Adeline Gray and a gold by Helen Maroulis. In the team standings, the USA placed third at the 2013, 2014 and 2015 World Championships. She has worked closely with National Women’s Coach Terry Steiner and his staff. She was named 2015 Woman of the
Year by USA Wrestling, a prestigious award which recognizes an outstanding woman for her contributions to the sport of wrestling.
She was instrumental in the creation of
Women’s Wrestling Week, which USA Wrestling has celebrated the last two years. She also helped lead USA Wrestling’s first public celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day in 2016.
She serves as President of Beat the
Streets in New York City, an organization that aims to improve the lives and poten- tial of New York City student-athletes through the benefits and skills acquired by participating in amateur wrestling. She helped organize USA Wrestling’s involvement in UWW’s Super 8 women’s campaign in 2015, in which World cham- pion Helen Maroulis was an international ambassador.
Barry has helped set up meetings with
the Women’s Sports Foundation to find common ground between the organiza- tion and the wrestling community. Barry also has set up committees to work on a variety of issues to help build and expand high school and college wrestling for women.
ANDY BARTH
Freestyle Team Leader Andy Barth of San Marino, Calif., is serving as Freestyle Team Leader for USA Wrestling for the 2013-2016 Olympic cycle. He has led the team at the 2013, 2014 and 2015 World Championships, and will be the leader for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. During the three years he has served
as Team Leader, the USA has won six World medals, including two gold medals by Jordan Burroughs and a gold by Kyle Snyder. The USA has placed fifth in 2013, ninth in 2014 and seventh in 2015 at the World Championships. He has worked closely with National Freestyle Coach Bruce Burnett and his staff. Barth was named the 2014 Myron Roderick Man of the Year by USA Wrestling, an award which recognizes an outstanding man for his contributions to the sport of wrestling. He is founder of the Titan Mercury WC, which supports top wrestlers in men’s and women’s freestyle on the Senior level, as well as all levels of youth wrestling in California.
Barth founded Beat the Streets - Los Angeles, and is the President of its Board, a growing organization serving youth wrestling in the Los Angeles area. Beat the Streets - Los Angeles cultivates youth development in underserved com- munities by encouraging a desire for excellence, respect, teamwork, leader- ship, integrity, and perseverance through the quality wrestling programs. He has chaired the local organizing committee for the successful World Cup of Freestyle Wrestling, held in LA in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Barth was honored with the National
Wrestling Hall of Fame Outstanding American award in 2012. He and his wife Avery has made the largest charitable gift in the history of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
