Q. What’s the best age for children taking a Tauck Bridges river cruise trip? While children as young as 4 are welcome aboard our Tauck Bridges river cruises, based on our experiences with family travelers, we recommend that children be at least 8 years old to get the most out of their Tauck Bridges experience. Our days are full, with many planned activities, walking tours, expert presentations and guided visits inside historic places. Additionally some activities may have age restrictions on them that would prohibit younger children from taking part.
Q. Will my kids have enough fun things to do onboard the ship?
While river cruises don’t offer Broadway- style extravaganzas like some ocean cruises, kids stay engaged and happy aboard with entertainment by local performers, lively demonstrations by talented experts, tastings of regional cuisine, cooking classes and more. Our Tauck Directors and Cruise Director specialize in arranging group activities, games and contests that bring everyone together for a good time. Free to enjoy the riverboat’s public spaces, your children will welcome the opportunity to get to know and hang out with kids their own age in the lounge or on the Sun Deck, where non- stop scenery, a hot tub or plunge pool and a putting green add more fun. If they wish, they can work out in the fitness center, connect to the riverboat’s WiFi (intermittent) or watch an in-room movie in your cabin.
Q. What kind of dining experiences will we have onboard ship? Dining is an important and fun part of every travel experience with lots of
opportunities to sample local food from a variety of different cultures. All meals onboard your riverboat are included and are prepared daily by a talented chef who uses fresh local produce whenever possible. Menus in The Compass Rose dining room include a choice of traditional favorites and regionally inspired dishes at dinner; lunches are served buffet style and full American breakfasts are available every morning. Kid-friendly options and vegetarian meals are available upon request. Informal dining with casual fare is served at Arthur’s or al fresco on the Sun Deck and snacks, like warm pretzels, cheese and crackers, and ice cream are available for those in-between munchies. Unlimited complimentary beverages, including regional wine, beer, premium spirits, soft drinks, specialty coffee, tea and bottled water are always included onboard ship.
Q. Are babysitters available on the cruise?
At Tauck Bridges, we believe the best family vacations are the ones where everyone plays together. It’s one of the rare times today’s busy families have to enjoy one another without any distractions. In keeping with that important family philosophy, we do not provide or arrange babysitting services while you and your family are traveling with Tauck Bridges. For safety reasons, children will not be permitted to take part in sightseeing excursions or activities without an accompanying parent or guardian. Your Tauck Directors are not available to supervise your children as they are responsible for orchestrating all the trip details for the enjoyment of everyone.
