This month’s Star Leter. An iScot giſt of a Pashmina is winging its way to the contributor.

Dear iScot

Following the Greek tragedy playing out on our news channels this week I have been wondering what effect the actions of the Troika will have on those of us who are pro- Indy and who, certainly up until now, were also advocates of remaining in the EU.

Dear iScot Terry Houston’s article: The Lost Tribe of Keir Hardie

Dear iScot

Will MacLeod’s excellent Letter from America on the need for a written constitution (May 2015 issue) raises a number of very

interesting points and

highlights the over-inflated number of Westminster politicians.

It is ridiculous that America, which has a population of some 360 million people, only has 535 elected representatives across both houses of Congress while the UK, with just 62 million people, has over 600 MPs in the House of Commons, alone. The unelected House of Lords is worse with 786 members entitled to £300 a day just for turning up. There aren’t even enough seats for them all!

I must confess, seeing the impact of the punitive demands of the EU leaders, including demands to force privatisation of public services without the consent of a majority of the Greek people, it was hard to disagree that this was, indeed, a coup. I found myself for the first time seriously wondering about whether there might indeed be more downsides to membership than I had initially considered, albeit the current crisis is related to the Eurozone in particular.

It would be interesting to see a future iScot article highlighting the views, hopes and fears of business leaders and others on our upcoming in/out referendum particularly in light of the Greek experience. I’m sure I cannot be the only Indy supporter who felt disquiet at the actions of the EU leaders.

As an aside, I would add I am loving the way the magazine is developing, please keep up the great work.

Kind regards, Lynne McGregor - Glasgow

Dear iScot

I have seen the offer for the digital only version, but I must say that with such a gorgeous publication like yours I prefer very much to have a hard copy which I can enjoy without the need for electronic gadgetry... So I would appreciate very much if you could inquire about the postage for Belgium.

Thanks in advance! and best wishes Nico Spiegel - Brussels

Only the People’s Republic of China has more governing legislators with 2,987 but at least they represent a population of 1.4 billion.

The Labour party in Scotland have been an accident waiting to happen for years now.

Following blindly the policies and ideals of the party based in London have cost them dear in Scotland, as is now plain to see.

There is no way back, in my view. Too many loyal supporters who for decades voted blindly for them have now abandoned them.

I include myself in that group. Kezia by taking the lead of London, and suggesting that she needs a broad tent and has to remove the party from being seen as supporting only the disadvantaged, has blundered badly.

Labour is now unelectable in Scotland, possibly for decades. Their leaders past and present have to hold up their hands for this failure.

As an original contributor to your last years fundraiser I felt compelled to email you guys and let you know what a cracking job you’re doing with the magazine. I can see real progress from your inaugural issue to the current issue which is a beautifully produced magazine. May I offer some suggestions for inclusion in future issues? Would you consider publicising restaurant reviews? As someone who is in a fortunate position to dine out every so oſten I’m always interested to learn of new dining experiences ? Keep up the good work !

James A - Name and Address supplied Hello James

Thank you very much for your email and kind words. We always welcome suggestions and whilst we like the idea of restaurant reviews it’s something we haven’t explored in great detail. If you have any specific restaurant suggestions please email info@iscot.scot and we’ll give it some serious consideration.

If the new UK government wants to make cuts to balance the economy they should start with their own House.
