records. Only one starter managed to better the time in his class. Dragonfly CEO Jens Quorning, a local expert, had to dig deep to do so. He came with a 28ft one-off trimaran usually sailed by a crew of four; one of his company’s own production tris wouldn’t have done the trick. Going upwind at 10-12kt, Quorning had lost sight of his 417 rivals after barely four hours at sea. From then on he sailed by himself. No traffic, steady breezes. He was back in Svendborg in the middle of the night at 3am, after 15h 34m – two minutes inside the previous multihull record! Jens’ average of 8.6kt will be beaten. But before then there will
be another new record – for the number of entries to an intriguing contest. That record will fall in September 2017.
