Likewise, bowling, which for years had a traditional American blue-collar image (it’s Homer Simpson’s favourite sport) has now moved squarely into the mainstream as a group and family pursuit for which, at its most basic level at least, no great degree of expertise is required or sought. In short, anyone can bowl.

Couple that with nifty new scoreboard concepts, lane theming, lighting, licensing and now the idea of bringing bowling outside of its traditional home in alleys to malls and even outdoor to beaches and you have a market very much in the ascendency, not just in the US but also internationally as well.
Serious bowlers will always have a place for their game. In fact, the broadening of its more mainstream appeal makes it
more likely that their local alley will stay open. If you want to know how to take a niche activity and popularise it, bowling points the way.
