Portuguese fashion printer extends DTG business with Kornit’s Allegro B

lur of Barcelos in Portugal has purchased an Allegro single-step digital textile printing solution to enable the production of fast fashion products. The company began in 2012 with just two employees and a single Kornit Avalanche as a garment printing specialist offering its services to the high fashion industry.

Demand was so high that 12 months later the company invested in a second machine, this time an Avalanche Hexa. Blurs growth continued and, at the start of 2014, its customer base had expanded to the extent that the company acquired an Avalanche 1000, Kornits flagship model that allows for the highest level of productivity. A second printer was purchased later in the year.

Steady expansion gave Blur the capacity to move into digital fast fashion. This is being complemented by an online ordering capability that gives customers flexible options for personalisation, with all the benefits of an efficient web-to-print service that offers fast turnaround of orders. Now the purchase of the Allegro means that Blur can enter the roll-to-roll printing market. This is complemented by a flatbed cutting system from Zünd which forms part of the Allegro & Cut workflow approach. The Kornit Allegro, with its print width of 1.8m, is a single-step digital textile printing system that is designed for high-speed end- to-end production, using Kornits patented NeoPigment printing process. The system features proven inline pretreatment technology and works on a variety of fabrics, both natural and man-made fibres and blends. It is the only industrial textile printer available today that integrates all production steps in a

single, integrated production line, removing the need for complicated pre- and post-treatments such as steaming and washing. It offers the fastest route from digital designs to the finished fabric.

Mariano Dias, founder and owner of Blur, said: “The Kornit Allegro matches our ambition for various reasons, starting from its excellent printing quality, and through its extremely simplified process, eliminating the need of other machinery or external processes. “Moreover, the Kornit Allegro enables you to print on various fabric types with the same ink set. It is the most eco-friendly solution on the marketplace, since it uses 100% biodegradable inks.”

Technotape develops 3D sublimation oven

model, which can cure up to 260 plastisol-printed images and up to 90 discharge-printed images per hour, is equipped with dual 240V/2600 watt heaters, a longer conveyor belt and digital controls.

Capacity of both models can be increased as needs grow by adding additional heating chambers, extending the belt length and increasing the variable speed setting of the digital belt control.

Both models are equipped as standard with a low-friction roller belt aligner and an Infrared Focusing System that allows infinite belt-to-heater height adjustment between 50 and 175cm, plus angle control for optimum results.

he Sawgrass VJ 628 printer has been chosen as a preferred partner for sublimating with Technotapes newly developed 3D sublimation oven. Technotapes 3D sublimation oven takes the sublimation process to the next level. It combines ease of use and a

low ecological footprint to enable product

decorators to imprint onto curved substrates. It has been designed with high volume customisation and personalisation in mind. 3D sublimation is a relatively new process that adds a vaccum, making it ideal for the production of 3D smart phone and tablet cases or other curved products. Vik Patel, director of business development for Sawgrass, said: “We are excited that with our platinum reseller Technotape, we can continue to be a part of the growing 3D market. We can see this opening up some very exciting opportunities for product decorators worldwide.”

Bonne Klein Woolthuis, managing director of Technotape International, said: “We have been working for the past two years to develop a new technology that will take sublimation to the next level. “We have developed a 3D sublimation oven that required the best technology and software available in the market and we immediately opted for Sawgrass.”
