Six Flags unveils Dubai park plans

Here’s a glimpse of the kind of park Six Flags intends to build in Dubai as part of the second phase of the Emirate’s Dubai Parks and Resorts development, phase I of which opens this October with Motiongate movie park, Bollywood Parks Dubai and Legoland Dubai. This initial plan, prepared by Forrec, shows that the park will feature 27 rides and attractions, including rollercoasters, tower rides, water rides, virtual reality experiences and a 4D interactive dark ride, likely to be Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. . Identifiable are such attractions as double S&S tower ride, Funtime Star Flyer, Intamin

ZacSpin Coaster, Mack PowerSplash and Zamperla Disk ‘O, although there is no suggestion this will be the final ride selection. Visitors will enter and exit the park through an impressive, state-of-the-art promenade. The fully air-conditioned area will offer a VIP mezzanine, space for private and catered events, along with an assortment of retail and food locations including a signature bakery and deli. Guests will have access to three attractions from inside the plaza and the park’s signature rollercoaster will encircle the entire promenade. When the sun sets, the park will come alive with lights dancing in the sky. “Through this collaborative partnership with Dubai Parks and Resorts, we are excited to bring innovation, entertainment and unmatched thrills to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC),” says John Odum, president of Six Flags International Development Co.” The park is scheduled to open in 2019 near the Lapita Hotel and Riverland Dubai food/entertainment/dining district.

Turtle takes flight at the New look Huss Condor

turns over Tivoli The first Huss Condor with a combination of swinging and new outward facing seats has opened at the classic Copenhagen amusement destination Tivoli Gardens. Marketed as a three-in-one ride, the 45m-tall tower named Fatamorgana also features a kids’ bumper car track underneath called Minimorgana. In customising the attraction, Tivoli designers Jonathan Gress Wright and Will

Gurley took inspiration from minaret architecture, contemporary art and design culture and the celebratory oriental architecture of Tivoli. Passengers on the new attraction will be whisked away into the sky riding gilded winged lions and winged oryx these two rings of gondolas move at a faster pace to the outward seats, which allow passengers to appreciate the view of Copenhagen's streets from a ride height of 30m. Fatamorgana forms part of the Tivoli’s oriental area at the front of the park,

featuring alongside other tall attractions including Vertigo and the Golden Tower, and represents a DKK 50 million ($7.6m/€6.7m) investment.

OK Corral The French theme park OK Corral is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016 with the addition of a turtle- themed Wave Swinger from Zierer. The ride’s appearance may not immediately seem in keeping with the park’s far west theme, but when one learns that the turtle is a totem animal among Native Americans, a symbol of the earth mother and protective of the lineage of men, it all makes sense. Some authentic painting around the centre of the ride complete the American look. Located in Cuges-les-Pins – in the heart of a 15-hectare pine forest between the

towns of Aubagne and Le Castelet – the OK Corral is the last European park operated by the Bembon family following the closure of Loudoun Castle in Scotland and the sale of Slagharen in the Netherlands. The famous industry operators are known for their love of ponies, and a particular breed gets a starring role in another new feature for 2016, the Shetland Show Theatre. Elsewhere the Buffalo-themed Fort 70s has been specially rebuilt for the park’s special anniversary year. Reflecting on his years at the park, owner Mathjis Bembom comments: "When I came here for the first time, I was happy because I was able to live my two dreams: the horses and the western. Since then, the dream continues to the delight of young and old.“ okcorral.fr
