Time for every- one’s IAQ test

F

or a long time outdoor air quality has been high on the environmental agenda

with indoor air quality relegated to being an afterthought, most often referred to in terms of keeping the outdoor pollution out of indoors.

But as lock-down easing has started getting people back into the workplace, they are starting to acknowledge the importance of indoor air quality because of the potentially the rapid spread of Covid-19.

Both our air conditioning and humidity control features involve looking at the sometimes tricky-to-achieve goal of good indoor air quality. There are so many elements to consider – it’s true that heating, cooling and humidifi cation are not the only sources of indoor air pollutants, but they do control air movement along with the associated ventilation which is crucial, especially now. The pressure is on facility managers, engineers etc., to make sure their – or their customers’ – HVAC systems are up to scratch, checked regularly and maintained properly. Schools, universities and offi ces seem set to be returning to physical premises to at least some degree, so it’s time to make sure all of these buildings are as healthy for those using them as possible.
