SWRS breakfast briefi ng hits the right note

H

eld at Bath College recently, the South West South Wales Refrigeration Society (SWRS) Breakfast Briefi ng was both informative and insightful.

The event began with Nicki Martin from Bath College discussing the nuances of refrigeration apprenticeships. She introduced the innovative employer board concept, which allows employers to provide real-time feedback. Paul Bevington of Beijer Ref then took to the stage to highlight the Sustainable Energy Controller. His insights on recovering waste heat from small refrigeration systems showcased the signifi cant energy effi ciency gains and cost savings potential by harnessing this ‘free heat’ and repurposing it as hot water for domestic use. Neil Stewart from Yellow Jacket delved deep into A2L refrigerants. He detailed their presence in the global market over the past 15 years, advised on safe handling practices, and recommended equipment usage. The session culminated in a live demonstration by Mike Lucken from

Connex, showcasing the robustness of copper-to-copper press fi ttings. Vice chairman of the SWRS Michal Wiecaszek said: “A special thanks to Connex for sponsoring the refreshments and to Bath College for graciously hosting the event. Our gratitude extends to our esteemed speakers - Nicki, Paul, Neil, and Mike - for sharing their expertise. Lastly, thank you to everyone who attended, your support is invaluable to the continuous growth and success of our local refrigeration society.”
