NEWS New dates for HVACR Live F

ollowing extensive consultation with exhibitors and key players in the industry, the decision has been taken to move HVACR Live to 8 and 9

April 2025. After a fi ve-year gap, Datateam was able to bring

the show back to the marketplace in April of this year. It had a positive start with 84 exhibitors and more than 1300 visitors over the two days, which was an increase in size over the 2018 show and a good platform from which to build on.

Post-event research revealed that visitors wanted an annual HVACR Live, which Datateam was prepared to provide. However, the post-Covid landscape has been challenging for trade shows in general as well as some of the businesses they support.

Event manager for HVAC & Refrigeration Live Tony Patman said: “Having consulted with the HVACR industry as a whole, it is our belief that the industry needs and deserves to have an annual dedicated

ujitsu General Air Conditioning UK hosted its 2023 Invitational Golf Day at the Abbey Hotel in

Redditch. Guests from across the company’s direct sales and distribution channels made up the six teams of four who competed in a Stableford format for individual and team prizes. Fujitsu chief operating offi cer

partnerships. The whole day was a huge success and we will be certainly making this an annual event.’’

Andy Slater (HVAC

platform to represent it, which Datateam Business Media is keen to be able to facilitate. It has become clear that while exhibitors are unable to commit to an annual event at this time, a traditional biennial event, in a non-European show year (Mostra and Chillventa) will be well supported by exhibitors and visitors alike. “We look forward to being able to bring

HVACR Live, bigger and better, back to the industry in 2025.”

The evening meal and prize

presentation also saw Fujitsu’s recently appointed commercial

director Martyn Ives presented with the Wooden Spoon award for last place.

Cold storage industry achieves climate change target T

he Cold Chain Federation announces today that the businesses participating in the Government’s Climate Change Agreement

(CCA) for cold stores succeeded in meeting the agreement’s challenging target for energy effi ciency improvements by the end of 2022. The cold storage CCA target for the end of

2022 required the participating facilities to improve energy effi ciency by 6.67% against a 2018 benchmark. Collectively, the facilities achieved an improvement of 6.735%. The CCA scheme operates across multiple industries, off ering tax benefi ts to businesses which sign up to energy effi ciency targets. The Cold Chain Federation manages the cold storage CCA which saves the cold storage industry more than £10m each year.

Cold Chain Federation Executive Director Tom Southall said: “Energy effi ciency is a very high priority for cold storage facilities of all sizes, and the industry’s success in meeting this very challenging CCA target refl ects strong focus and signifi cant investment. For many temperature-controlled warehouse operations, the most straightforward energy effi ciency measures have already been

implemented so energy effi ciency gains are now harder won. But the rewards are very signifi cant both in Climate Change Levy savings and also in reducing sky-high energy bills. Securing the extension of the scheme this year was important for our industry, it will help us keep momentum towards net zero while also providing tax savings of more than £10m every year.” The Cold Chain Federation campaigned for the cold storage Climate Change Agreement to be extended past 2025, and an extension was confi rmed by Government earlier this year, meaning that participating businesses which pass their targets will now benefi t from the Climate Change Levy discount through to March 2027. The scheme also opened a new application window in summer 2023 for facilities seeking to join the scheme. The next CCA target for cold stores is to build on the 6.7% energy effi ciency improvement achieved by the end of 2022 to reach 10% improvement against the same 2018 baseline by the end of 2024. There may be a number of changes to the scheme during 2024: Climate Change Levy reduction rates are due to change on 1st

April 2024, and other proposed changes include an increased buyout price Download the ACR News app today  www.coldchainfederation.org.uk www.acr-news.com • November 2023 7 (rising from £18 to £25/tC02 e), and the possibility of

new reporting requirements on energy effi ciency measures installed and decarbonisation potential. Tom Southall added: “Meeting the next target

by the end of 2024 will be just as challenging, Cold Chain Federation members can draw on the support we off er including our Practical Guide to Energy Effi ciency in Cold Stores; webinars about the CCA and its requirements; our Cold Chain Energy Week webinar series; and our Net Zero Cold Store Project resources. We will also be launching a new Cold Store Energy Benchmarking Dashboard in November, a new tool to help our members to better assess energy performance of their facilities and identify the best opportunities to make improvements.”

The Cold Chain Federation’s new Cold Store

Energy Benchmarking Dashboard will be launched alongside other new energy effi ciency resources in a webinar at 10am on 14th

November 2023, as part of

the federation’s series of Energy Week events. Find out more about these events and sign up on the Events page of the Cold Chain Federation website.
