CHILLVENTA REVIEW PART 1
Stand focus: Bitzer on display
Bitzer had a number of innovations on display at Chillventa. Here we look at some of the key products.
B
itzer has been bundling all relevant information about refrigerants in the Bitzer Refrigerant Report since 1992.
The new online edition of the Refrigerant Report is much more comprehensive and, as always, available in German and English. What’s new is that it will only appear online, meaning users can always access the latest information. The topics, data and refrigerant information are more comprehensive and have been updated. There’s also a new version of the Bitzer Refrigerant Ruler, a free app which allows users to determine all relevant refrigerant values, including pressure, dew and boiling temperatures, substance property data, global warming and ozone depletion potential, and information about safety groups and suitable types of oil.

Hybrid falling film evaporators Bitzer presented its new evaporator technology at Chillventa, for air conditioning systems and process cooling. The Bitzer hybrid falling film evaporators, which are available in five housing sizes, achieve significantly better levels of efficiency than dry expansion evaporators in full and, especially, in part load operation with stable operation under all conditions thanks to optimised internal liquid droplet separation, less refrigerant charge and improved oil recovery.
With a capacity range of 300 to 2,000
kW, the hybrid falling film evaporators offer flexibility and a variety of fields of application – above all, in air conditioning and process cooling. They are developed for the refrigerants R134a, R1234ze and R513A. Due to their special design, the Bitzer hybrid falling film evaporators require at least 35% less refrigerant than flooded evaporators. The design ensures that the shell side is not simply flooded with
refrigerant. Instead, liquid refrigerant is accurately distributed on the pipe surface and only a small part of the shell side is flooded.
With hybrid technology from Bitzer, users make their systems future-proof. As they enable systems to already meet future efficiency requirements of the EU Ecodesign Regulation. For cooling systems with an output of more than 400 kW, the minimum efficiency required by the regulation will shift the choice of dry expansion evaporators to flooded evaporators with higher efficiency. Hybrid falling film evaporators are regarded as the evolution of flooded evaporators. They also require low maintenance cost – effectively because they operate fail-safe under all operating conditions.
ECOLITE LHL7E
Also on display was the Ecolite LHL7E which joins the Bitzer Ecolite LHL3E and LHL5E condensing units. The Ecolite series with the LHL7E models offers an even wider capacity
