ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE LEAN WORKSHOP GROUP COMES TO DUBLIN APRIL 2016


The Lean Workshop Group (LWG) has come to Dublin to hold a series of Lean Manufacturing and Logistics training sessions to representatives from Irish industry. Taking place at the Bosch Household Appliances facility on the outskirts of Dublin over a period of three days some 84 delegates from over 32 Irish manufacturing companies will be taking part in the hands on training offered by LWG.


WHAT IS THE LEAN WORKSHOP GROUP? The Lean Workshop Group is not a newcomer to the industrial training scene. It was set up over five years ago by a small group of manufacturers from a wide range of disciplines each of which are specialists in the delivery of ‘lean’ techniques and hardware to the manufacturing, logistics


training in lean techniques takes place on a full size manual assembly line where, after demonstration by the team from the organisers on how to do it, delegates get their chance to operate the line and put into practice the techniques they are learning. In a relaxed but competitive atmosphere, teams of delegates watch and then analyse the other teams’ efforts to put best practices into operation and thus ‘learn by doing’. A final exercise has teams of delegates


and service sectors: Bosch Rexroth, Spitfire Consultancy & Training, SICK UK, K. Hartwall, Orgatex, Bosch Power Tools, iCart, Hurst Green Plastics and WERMA UK.


WHAT DOES THE TRAINING DAY CONSIST OF? Delegates are welcomed and after brief introductions the first session takes off. The Spitfire Consultancy gives an introduction to the philosophies of Lean manufacturing and begins to provide practical examples of the techniques with the aid of exercises, videos and a great deal of audience participation. learning how best to organise themselves and work as a team by having to build a Lego model aeroplane; sounds easy but quite complex without the instruction booklet and thus emphasises the need for organised and structured teamwork. Want to find out more about The Lean
