Following high demand from installers, a new online video library from CP Electronics has been launched to help contractors with the installaon processes of its lighng control systems

Hosted on the CP Electronics website, the new Tech Reel videos allow installers to access a wide range of ‘how-to’ videos on site, ensuring products are installed correctly. With new videos being uploaded regularly throughout the year, the Tech Reel video library includes: unboxing videos, programming guides, product assembly, wiring, termination and installation videos. Available on desktop and via a mobile browser, contractors can use the new videos to gain further knowledge prior to beginning a job, or when troubleshooting a problem on site. Products included in the videos include presence and absence detectors, dimming switches, and CP’s Vitesse Modular control system.

Mike Brooks, marketing manager, at CP Electronics, says: “Our new Tech Reel is a great tool for contractors to ensure CP products are installed to the highest quality.

INSTALLATION NEWS SPONSORED BY CP Electronics simplifies lighng control installaons with video

By having access to it via smartphones, customers can quickly get the answers they need while on site and get on with the job at hand – having obvious benefits for productivity and meeting deadlines. “By installing lighting controls in line with our best practice videos, the commissioning process also becomes far simpler and minimises any risk of having to make changes after the installation has taken place.”The Tech-Reel video complements CP’s already extensive resource library which includes; the knowledge-hub, technical bulletins, CPD seminars, BIM and CP’s digital library. These resources are available to ensure installers have all the resources and tools needed to complete projects correctly, safely and efficiently.

Cheshire Barn Homes turns to renewables with Sebel Eltron

Restoraon experts Cheshire Barn Homes has demonstrated its commitment to energy ecient and environmentally friendly development with the installaon of Sebel Eltron WPC and WPF ground source heat pumps at a landmark renovaon project in Huxley, Cheshire

Hoofield Hall Barns, originally constructed in 1837 before being rebuilt in the 1870s, incorporates six Grade II listed barns across an estate comprising of 17 listed buildings in total.

Stiebel Eltron’s installation partners, Fervo, fitted a selection of WPC and WPF ground source heat pump units, to suit the individual requirements of all six barns following their conversion to luxury homes.

Due to the complex nature of the site, and the small footprint of the barns themselves, all units were installed on bore hole probes, with some barns requiring the WPC as a compact option to save space and maximise living areas.

All heat pump systems are fully integrated with the estate’s ventilation system, maximising efficiencies and

improving the usability of the system for residents.

The Stiebel Eltron WPC / WPF ground source heat pumps were chosen due to their status as industry leading renewable systems. Combining COP levels of up to 5.0, with heating flow temperatures that can rise to 60˚C, and fast and safe installation. This is alongside access to the Stiebel Eltron internet service gateway that allows remote monitoring and easily scheduled maintenance. Rhys Nevett, director at Cheshire Barn Homes, says: “Our aim at Hoofield Hall Barns was to restore beautifully unique listed buildings into luxury properties with sustainability at their core. From the foundation of the idea, Fervo, and the team at Stiebel Eltron, met the challenges of the development to help achieve a truly

stunning and historic development, driven by renewable technologies. “Due to the complexities of the site, Fervo and Stiebel Eltron offered us the customer service, knowledge and experience we required to achieve our goal. The success of the site is a reflection of that partnership, which in 2018 was recognised by the North West LABC as a regional finalist for building excellence.”

Mark McManus, managing director at Stiebel Eltron UK, says: “Quality is the key on a high-end project like this, and it speaks volumes of the standard that we provide that Cheshire Barn Homes decided to choose our ground source heat pumps as the preferred option for this scheme.

“The project presented a number of challenges that were expertly handled by both the products

themselves and our installation partners Fervo, particularly installing the new units into heritage buildings with limited space.

“We’re passionate about ensuring that, wherever possible, renewable options are viable in both new-build and retrofit developments. This project is a source of great pride, and a ringing endorsement of the benefits of this technology for both homeowners and the environment.”

Largest Mercedes Benz Facility in the UK to be cooled by Toshiba’s bestinclass VRF system

A new stateofthe art MercedesBenz retail centre now under construcon will be air condioned with Toshiba’s award winning Super Heat Recovery Mul (SHRMe) variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system

Located on a 10.5-acre site near Stockport, the development will be the largest Mercedes-Benz facility in the UK, and includes the brand’s largest showroom in Europe, 32 workshop bays and a high-tech body and paint repair facility. Toshiba Carrier UK is a joint venture between Toshiba and Carrier in the United Kingdom, and is part of Carrier, a leading global provider of innovative heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, fire, security and building automation technologies.

The project is the first in a series of new build schemes planned by Hong Kong-based retail group, LSH Auto UK, which currently operates nine Mercedes-Benz dealerships and smart retail centres in the Manchester and Birmingham areas. The main contractor on the project is RG Group with Imtech Engineering Services North responsible for mechanical and electrical services. Air conditioning will be provided by 18 Toshiba high-efficiency SHRM-e VRF outdoor systems connected to 124 indoor units, all ducted to deliver a high- quality interior finish. In addition, Toshiba cassettes are being installed in administration offices. The equipment is being supplied by Toshiba distributor, Cool Designs.

Gavin Horner, who led the project for Toshiba, says: “The showroom is a double height, open-plan design with adjoining offices, which offers significant potential for heat recovery. The heat pump-based Toshiba system will harness waste heat energy and deliver it in the form of heating or cooling to wherever it is needed in the building, making maximum use of available energy and minimising running costs for the end user.”

SHRM-e is Toshiba’s latest three-pipe heat recovery VRF air conditioning system. It sets a new industry standard for efficiency and continuous heating, achieving a world first of eight European Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ESEER ) in most capacities.

In addition to ground-breaking efficiency, SHRM-e delivers improvements across the board in terms of occupant comfort, ease of installation and breadth of building application. This has been made possible by developments in key technologies such as the compressor and intelligent control system, supported by a battery of incremental improvements in almost all system components.

The system is controlled by four touchscreen controllers, offering quick access to key operating parameters via a highly responsive colour screen. Each can control up to 64 indoor units, offering a user-friendly interface for enhanced user comfort and system performance.
