Bee Craſt magazine was founded in 1919 as the journal of the Kent Beekeepers’ Association. Surrey Beekeepers’ Association soon adopted the magazine, other counties followed and by the 1930s the magazine was widely read across the British Isles. Today, Bee Craſt as an organisation operates as a limited company, its shareholders being beekeeping associations. Any profits are reinvested in the magazine and in the production of other publications and initiatives to support beekeepers and beekeeping. The company is independent and has no commercial affiliations or sponsors.
