Sopra Banking, has been consolidating its position as a dedicated financial services software supplier, having pre- viously acquired Evolan, Callatay & Wouters, Delta Infor- matique and COR&FJA Banking Solutions. The runner-up was Temenos Lifecycle Management Suite, the supplier’s new loan origination, collection and recovery software, which was added to its portfolio following the acquisition of the US-based Akcelerant in 2015. While the two lend- ing systems (Cassiopae and Temenos Lifecycle) appear head to head on the IBS SLT, their customer markets are nearly exclusive with the former focusing more on Euro- pean markets and the latter the US market. Temenos has been looking to grow its North American business with its new regional headquarters in Pennsylvania.
Wealth management systems witnessed consistent year-on-year growth in 2016 with the number of system installations standing at 44, up from 32 in 2015. More than 60% of these took place in Europe which were mainly
driven by increasing regulatory reporting needs in the region. Last year’s winner in the IBS SLT, Miles Software and its Moneyware Wealth Management suite, repeated its success in the Private Banking category. Many of the company’s sales during the year came from Europe as opposed to its traditional markets – Asia and Middle East. This year’s runner-up is Objectway’s Conectus system, with six deals. Objectway is also a new entrant to the IBS SLT. The supplier has a wide array of wealth manage- ment systems with four of them featuring in the lending category this year: Conectus (six deals), eXimius (three), Wealth in One (one) and Altimis (one).
Deal activity for conventional back office implementa- tions was spread across all geographies during 2016 with Asia accounting for the largest market followed by Middle East & Africa (MEA).
The percentage of banking systems hosted on the cloud grew during the year to 21%, up from 15% in 2015. Most of the cloud-based installations were in Europe and Asia, indicating a slow uptake of cloud solutions in the rest of the regions, especially in the Middle East, Africa and South America.
Of note are implementations by Cobiscorp and Miles Software with more than a third of their respective solutions imple- mented on a hosted platform.
