Strategic agenda for

bike/ped investment Federal funding for pedestrian and bicycle transportation has increased from $113 million in 1994 to a peak of $1.2 billion in 2009; funding for 2014 was $820 million. The Federal Highway Administration developed a Strategic Agenda for Pedestrian and Bicycle Transportation to guide planning, design, and safety resources, foster pub- lic participation, and ensure accessibility.

Positive outlook seen

for outdoor recreation Outdoor recreation contributes $650

billion to the American economy, and supports tens of millions of jobs. According to the American Recreation Coalition’s new report Outdoor Recreation Outlook 2017, those num- bers are only expected to grow. Most components of the recreation

industry reported significant gains in 2016 and the general outlook for the industry in 2017 is optimistic. Key items
