HVAC Delivering what the industry wants
The ACR Show, the UK’s only dedicated exhibition for the refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, heating and heat pump sectors opens its doors at the NEC, Birmingham on 16-18 February.
T
his biennial event will see 100+ companies exhibiting top brand products, offering live demonstrations and giving advice on affordable and efficient solutions. From Fujitsu Air Conditioners to Airflow Developments, HygroMatik to Johnson Controls, Scandia Refrigeration to Blondelle, Glacier Coldrooms more, visitors will be spoilt for choice. Leading experts will also share their knowledge and advice in each of the three main seminar theatres: the Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Theatre sponsored by GREE; the Refrigeration & Cooling Theatre, sponsored by Opteon Refrigerants from Chemours and the Training & Careers Theatre, sponsored by Toshiba Carrier. Sessions include: Major issues of interest in BIM; Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery for commercial applications; Collaborations on Cooling London Underground; New developments in Refrigerants (HFO, CO2
) and more. The decision to include H&V companies has won the backing of all the
leading trade associations, including the Institute of Refrigeration (IOR), Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA), Refcom, the Building and Engineering Services Association (BESA), British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF), Association of European Component Manufacturers (ASERCOM) and the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA). The ACR Show will act as a launch pad for the ThermaSkirt, a new form of space heating that combines a specially developed heating cable into a traditional skirting board profile. A spokesperson for Heat Trace explained that “this not only saves valuable wall space in accommodation such as student rooms, hotels and healthcare bedrooms by eliminating the radiators, but also improves comfort, energy efficiency and response times.” Zoppas Industries Heating Element

Looking to Control the Temperature of Your Lobby?
With a Boon Edam Heater it’s a Breeze! D
uring periods of cold and windy weather, why allow the temperature in your lobby to drop? Just because it is chilly outside, doesn’t mean your reception area should be cold too. The revolving door has become a significant choice for many architects and facilities managers due to the way they naturally help to keep out draughts and reduce energy loss within a building. The cost saving decision to install a revolving door not only reduces your monthly energy bills but it is also more eco-friendly for the environment due to the reduced amount of hot air that leaves the building with every door rotation. Still feeling the cold? Why not consider adding a Boon Edam heater onto your door? On occasions when the weather is windy, cold air can sometimes become trapped within the separate
24 hvac
compartments of a revolving door and subsequently forced into an internal area, normally the reception area. By combining a Boon Edam heater with a revolving door system this cold air is negated and prevented from entering the building. When installed, the main body of the heater unit is strategically mounted above the revolving door and using curved air outlets, creates a warm barrier around the inner opening of the doorway which counteracts any cold air infiltrating through the door. With the option to add a Boon Edam heater either from new or as a retrofit, we can ensure that your lobby area is kept at a comfortable climate at all times whilst not impacting on the aesthetics of your entry point. Not sure which heater to choose? At Boon Edam, we understand that our
clients’ needs are as varied as they are which is why each of our heaters are created to match the curvature of each specific revolving door type. We are proud to offer a range of air curtains which can be made bespoke for all commercial, corporate or industrial requirements.
