Anytime we decide to declutter, simplify and purge what is no longer useful to us within our homes and work spaces we are instantly creating space in our minds for creative energy to flow. Clutter can cause distraction, hinder our ability to focus and drain our creative energy. When taking the time to simplify a space and become better organized, incorporating creativity will begin to seem effortless during the process.
Once we have removed the unnecessary the art of applying creativity into our homes and working environments can almost be thought of as a painter’s blank canvas. As you organize, adding creative elements and your unique personality will allow you to fall in love with the space and essentially create your own masterpiece. Here are some tips to incorporate getting creative when organizing and why it is so important to do so.
Sometimes there are treasures within our homes we love that we have hidden away because we haven’t discovered a great use for them. These treasures may unlock creativity within us because of their meaning and the way they make us feel. Maybe it’s an older vase, a tea collection or even a photo. Use your imagination to utilize the items for storage, revamp the space with images that mean something to you and discover the possibilities of repurposing items. Organizing doesn’t have to be rigid or uniform. Mixing and matching of containers, photos and the unexpected can be fun and will add personality to any space.
Color and texture is one of the most important as- pects of a space. It can help to lift our mood and wake us up. Vibrant colors, soft shades and darker hues can all be used when creating organizational systems. Get creative with bins, file folders even book shelves. Mix and match glass storage jars with natural elements found in baskets. Breathe a breath of fresh air to any space by giving your items a home that is full of all your favorite colors and elements.
Do what feels right in the space when making the commitment to getting organized. You can never go wrong if you add the style, colors and items that speak to you. Rather than see organizing and simpli- fying as a chore see it as an opportunity to invite in all that you love into the space. One of the most impor- tant factors in becoming and staying organized is the ability to truly love and embrace your space.
