Fiction chart since its release in print, and it charts in the audio download list for the second time, climbing 16 places month on month. There’s also a Ron Howard-directed film adap- tation in the works. Could it finally be time to say The Girl on the Train is dead, long live The Girl Before? The Stephen Fry-narrated Sherlock Holmes: The Defini- tive Collection impressively hit 12th place—on one day’s worth of downloads. It also brings Fry’s tally of titles in the top 20 to eight, along with that other timeless work of British litera- ture featuring an eponymous main character, the original Harry Poter series, all seven of which charted in Febru- ary. Hopefully Fry’s stocked up on cough drops: this was the biggest showing for a single narrator in the list’s history. Interestingly, TV tie-in titles have dominated February. Not only was there a strong show- ing from the “Crackanory” titles, but Professor Brian Cox’s Human Universe hit fiſth, and Louise Dought’s Apple Tree Yard—which topped the Mass- Market Fiction chart in mid- February as its BBC TV adapta- tion was broadcast—cruised into 18th. This follows on from the consistenly high chart rankings of small-screen successes in audio, such as Alan Partridge’s Nomad, George R R Martin’s A Game of Thrones and John le Carré’s The Night Manager. ×
