Ranking number one for the first time, it was something of a vintage week for the veteran author, even by his standards. Another writer with reason to crack open the champagne last week was Yuval Noah Harari, whose Sapiens performed a dazzling leap, surging from 49th place to ninth. The 2015 title posted its highest single- week volume to date (12,091 copies) and saw off Joe Wicks’ Lean in 15 at the top of the Paperback Non-Fiction chart, breaking the Insta- grammer/personal trainer’s 10-week grip on the number one slot. The author’s appear- ance on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 has driven sales more drastically than the endorsement it got from Barack Obama—the title has leapt 506% in volume in the past two weeks.
