CORPORATE CARDS SUPPLEMENT 2015
Virtual cards By Rob Gill
Virtual numbers cannot be stolen and are almost impossible to misuse
ing their central travel spend. A lodge card product doesn’t necessarily give them the opportunity to control centrally as much of their travel spend as they would like, due to a lack of data.” Industry pioneer Conferma’s main focus
over recent months has also been integrat- ing virtual cards into corporate booking tools, and the company has now agreed deals with Sabre’s Get There platform and expenses specialist Traveldoo. Conferma’s Stuart Birkett says these agreements allow “larger corporations to take advantage of virtual cards from their existing, preferred booking platforms”. Conferma has also released a mobile
app, Trip Pay, which allows travellers to access their virtual card numbers and provides the ability to upload invoices. “Irrespective of how the traveller’s virtual card was generated, through a GDS or self-booking tool, Trip Pay centralises those bookings into a single mobile solution,” says Birkett. “It’s been positively received by our TMC partners and their corporate customers.” An improved version of the app will add enhancements such as an offline mode and calendar integration. Other developments include Ameri- can Express’s V Payment Traveller, which allows the use of virtual accounts to offer centralised billing for hotels as well as for low-cost airlines, and can be integrated with expense management tools. Meanwhile Citi has relaunched its virtual card account website to give clients the ability to create, amend and cancel
