Temza Designer: Julia Janosa

Temza’s client for this project were a couple from Russia, who wanted to settle in the UK with their son. They already had listed building consent when they approached Janosa to refurbish and redecorate their late Regency property. “They were intent on keeping the spirit of the house, but the budget was non-negotiable,” she says. “So, for the style and quality they were expecting, we really needed to dig deep and go to unusual sources to find pieces and shop around for the best prices.”As both the family and the master bathroom were back to back, Temza’s in-house construction team created a recess for the vanity in both schemes. This allowed for a much better layout, with enough space for a bath and separate shower cubicle. They then took inspiration from the house itself for the overarching theme, choosing a bath from Catchpole & Rye, which was custom-painted to match the Colefax & Fowler wallpaper. The wallcovering and blind were treated against humidity and a sage-coloured metro tile and nickel brassware chosen to complete the scheme. Finishing touches include the La Parisienne washstand, also from Catchpole & Rye, and antique stools sourced in London and the Netherlands.
