FAA Rotorcraft Directorate Seeks Comments on Safety Forum


The Federal Aviation Administration’s Rotorcraft Directorate is seeking comments from helicopter pilots, mechanics, fl ight safety offi cers, and others associated with the


personal/private, instructional/training,


and aerial application industries about what they would like to see in a safety forum. The Rotorcraft Directorate will host the forum April 21-23, 2015, in Hurst, Texas, a Fort Worth suburb. The forum’s purpose is to discuss ways to improve fl ight safety, particularly among these three industry sectors as they have consistently high accident numbers. Before


planning for the forum begins, the


directorate wants to know what lectures, displays, events, and programs you would like to see. What topics do you think would yield the most value? What forums have you attended that you particularly liked, and why? Please contact:

Guidance Aviation continues to experience incredible success. To date, the helicopter fl ight training organization has 108 employees, representing a growth rate of over 40% with 31 new jobs created in 2014. The organization’s fl eet has grown as well, operating three new Robinson R66 turbine aircraft for a total of 28 aircraft to date. Bolstering its training program, Guidance Aviation also acquired a new line of state-of-the-art helicopter fl ight simulators for a total of 24 simulators in operation throughout the organization.

P ZL-Świdnik Signs Contract with HASA for Three Firefi ghting-Confi gured W-3A Sokół Helicopters


PZL-Świdnik, an AgustaWestland company, recently announced that it has signed a contract with the Spanish company Hispánica de Aviación S.A (HASA) for three W-3A Sokół helicopters in fi refi ghting confi guration. The contract will also see PZL- Świdnik deliver an Initial Spare Parts (ISP) package, Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and a comprehensive training package.


EAGLE 407HP Receives Certifi cation


EAGLE COPTERS LTD recently announced the receipt of Transport Canada certifi cation for its Eagle 407HP.


After an extensive certifi cation eff ort, the wait for this outstanding conversion is fi nally over. By virtue of a Supplemental Type Certifi cation (STC). The upgrade replaces the OEM- installed Rolls Royce C47 turbine engine with a ‘next-generation’ Honeywell HTS900 turbine engine, signifi cantly improving the Bell 407 helicopter’s high altitude and hot ambient temperature performance.

Guidance Aviation Celebrating Sustained Growth and Success


Guidance Aviation will be exhibiting at HELI- EXPO 2015, celebrating sustained growth and success. 2013 and 2014 brought much recognition to the organization with CEO John Stonecipher earning the United State’s Small Business Administration’s Business Person of the Year Award in Washington, D.C. and the organization’s launch of its newest school in Baton Rouge, Lousiana.

These three new aircraft will add to HASA’s existing helicopter fl eet, which includes, among others, 26 helicopters produced by PZL-Świdnik, 13 of them from the Sokół range. HASA, a leader in the aviation services market, performs fi refi ghting, medical rescue, and transport missions and has been cooperating with PZL-Świdnik since 2009.


The W-3A Sokół helicopters, to be delivered to HASA in 2015, are capable of VFR/ IFR operations and will be equipped with an external cargo hook, Bambi Bucket


Among the standout advantages it off ers to operators seeking even better performance from the Bell 407—considered to be one of the most versatile helicopters in operation today—the Eagle 407HP conversion introduces increased shaft horsepower, ultimately improving the payload capability of the helicopter and resulting in an increased capability over a wider operating spectrum. Additional key benefi ts provided by the Eagle Copters conversion include increased speed, reduced fuel consumption, and the incorporation of a true dual-channel FADEC engine control system.

installation for fi refi ghting, external cargo container, and provisions for a rescue hoist, emergency fl otation system, and a foam dispensing system.


The Sokół has proven to be a highly eff ective, reliable and rugged helicopter for fi refi ghting missions. Twenty fi refi ghting confi gured Sokół helicopters are already being used by clients in Spain, Portugal, and Chile. In total, PZL- Świdnik has produced almost 180 Sokół helicopters.
