Taking place at the Austria Trend Hotel Savoyen in Vienna on 14-16 February 2017, AMI’s ninth Pipeline Coating conference, which is supported by headline sponsor Shawcor, will once again provide attendees with an opportunity to learn more about the business and technical innovations that can help steel pipe coating industry players to operate effectively in today’s challenging market conditions. The two-day conference will be opened with a
market update given by Noru Tsalic, Senior Consultant working for AMI Consulting and author of the company’s Global Steel Pipe Market report, which analyses the current state and forecasts the future of this industry. This opening presentation will be followed with a
session focused on coating longevity and performance. Nicholas Singling, Thermal Insulation and Anti-Corro- sion Coating Engineer at Saipem in France will explore the role of simulated service testing in coating system development. Then Dr Dennis Wong and Catherine Lam, respectively Technology Manager and Group Leader Coatings R&D at Shawcor in the US, will discuss the critical relationship between pipe coating and cathodic protection system. Howard Tomes, Director of UK firm Northpoint, will

explain how combination coating of pipeline fittings was used in the Birmingham Resilience Project, while Dinko Cudic, Business Development Director at Anodeflex Seal for Life in the Netherlands, will explore cathodic protection and coating breakdown factor. Michael Young, Senior Engineer at Macaw Engineering (Rosen Group) in the UK will explain how effective coating selection can extend pipeline operational lifetimes. Richard Cowl, Global Concept Director Pipelines at Jotun in the UAE will look at FBE weathering. The conference will then move on to consider a
whole tranche of new materials and coating technolo- gies. David Pierre, S&T at Dow Corning in Belgium, will present a new siloxane-based coating for thermal insulation while Lars Moeller, Technical Director at Germany-based Schneider & Co, will review automation for flame-sprayed three-layer pipeline coatings. Application of polyurethane as a fire, corrosion and thermal protection coating in process pipelines will be discussed by Thadeus Hoss, Consultant Scandinavia at Jabitherm Rohrsysteme in Germany and Dieter Müller, Sales Manager Pipe Insulation at Hennecke Polyure- thane Technology, also Germany.
