Baja Fish Gear Kicks Off 2015 with the Long Beach Fred Hall Fishing Tackle and Boat Show It seems only yesterday founder Ed

Tschernoscha opened Baja Fish Gear. Ed originally planned to purchase East Cape Tackle in Los Barriles, BCS, Mexico, near the Van Wormer Resort in Las Palmas. In 2001, when the deal fell through, with a garage full of inventory, Ed began looking in the South Bay area of Los Angeles for a place start his business. After searching for almost a year, he settled at 24607 Narbonne Avenue in Lomita, CA — about 6 miles from L.A. Harbor and San Pedro, 6 miles from King Harbor in Redondo Beach, not far from the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and easy access to the 110 or 405 free- ways.

A long-time fishing veteran from the

East Cape Resorts’ tournaments in Cabo, the Revillagegados in a private yacht, fish- ing from sailboats cruising up and down the coast of Mexico, Ed decided to spe- cialize on what he knew best: tackle and fishing in Mexican waters. Ed brought in lures from Pacific Pro, the

distributor of South African company Williamson (prior to being sold to Normark), Futa Lures from Hawaii and Hi-5 Lures from Cabo San Lucas. Ed also bought what was left of Proven Pattern Lures — adding to their custom lure capa- bilities. Over the years, Baja Fish Gear, which opened in 2002 has grown in size at its Lomita location making them the largest square foot retail fishing tackle

naments, both club and International, Ed and Baja Fish Gear have been top winners, including 1st place overall in 2005 at the largest Tuna money tournament in the world. In 2010, Ed and the Baja Fish Gear boat King Fin helped Silvergate Yacht Club take the 1st place club trophy in the San Diego Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge. He also won the largest tuna in the big boat division last year. Baja Fish Gear is a strong supporter and sponsor of many clubs and tournaments, including the Marina Del Rey Halibut Derby, the King Harbor Marlin Tournament, the San Diego Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge and the Western Outdoor News’ Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot Tournament. Stop by the Baja Fish Gear booth for

Baja Fish Gear first appeared at the

Fred Hall Show in Long Beach eleven years ago with a small 10 x 10 booth. Its pres- ence steadily increased to their current 10 x 50 display, located on the upper end of the 200 row.

Besides a full selection of lures, skirts,

rods, reels, clothing and fishing tackle, Baja Fish Gear prides itself on friendly, knowl- edgeable and experienced staff.
