The Maritime Museum of San Diego will present the exhibi- tion, Fragile Waters, a powerful artis- tic and ecological statement reflect- ed in black-and-white images of three renowned photographers and environmentalists: Ansel Adams, Ernest H. Brooks II and Dorothy Kerper Monnelly. The traveling exhi- bition of 119 photographs, many not previously exhibited, takes viewers from the Pacific Coast’s Big Sur, to the piercing cold waters of Antarctica. The technique has almost nothing to do with other kinds of splicing — it is just a logical way to use the cover and core of the braided line, since both are hollow. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Newport Bayside Flotilla 114-6-4 will present a one-day course, “About Boating Safety,” Saturday, April 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $45 and includes a textbook. Experienced instructors will cover rules of the water, legal requirements, sound signals, required equipment, navigation aids, boating emergencies, anchoring, ropes and knots, communications and much more.
