DEMAG V-TYPE DOUBLE GIRDER CRANE RANGE
TEREX MATERIAL HANDLING
Since Terex Material Handling launched their innovative Demag V-type single girder crane they have extended the range to include V-type double girder overhead travelling models.
V-type double girder cranes come with load capacities of up to 50 tonnes and are offered with spans of up to 35metres as standard, with longer girder lengths available upon request.
A significant feature of the V-type crane is the reduced weight of the crane girder which facilitates the accommodation of a rope hoist that has a higher load capacity for the movement of heavier unit loads.
The reduced crane deadweight produces less wheel pressure and so minimises the forces transmitted to the crane runways and existing building structures. Consequently, the new Demag V-type crane provides architects with greater freedom in planning new factory buildings.
The V-type double-girder crane is offered in four different designs, with the side connection of the end carriages to the girder a common feature to all models. The different types are distinguished by the shape of the girder ends and their vertical connection position, ensuring that the crane design may be best adapted to the existing building.
For new structures, the space between the crane and building roof may be reduced for construction cost savings and lower maintenance expenses. In existing buildings with sufficient headroom, the height of the V-type girder may be increased to further reduce crane deadweight. This feature provides benefits for applications where the load bearing capacity of the building is an issue.
DOCKSAFE TRAKA
The DockSafe management solution is a unique and easily installed drive off prevention system designed to stop vehicles prematurely leaving the Goods In and Goods Out bays of busy distribution centres, the source of many serious accidents each year. Traka’s intelligent DockSafe solution isolates the trailer and is interlocked directly with the relevant dock door control mechanism to ensure a safe working environment is maintained until the loading or unloading operation is complete.
The system works by isolating the trailer and locking off the braking air line, preventing re-coupling. A Susie lock is fitted to the trailer airline coupling once the brakeline has been disconnected, this action then releases a control key with an iFob, and once the key is inserted into a control cabinet a signal is then displayed by the dock door informing the warehouse staff it is now safe to load or unload the goods.
If a driver or another employee were to attempt to withdraw the key from the control cabinet, their access would be denied and the key would remain locked in place until the loading operation was complete and the dock door had been closed within the warehouse.
The automated procedure of the Traka Docksafe, leaves zero scope for human error and transforms a high risk scenario into a safe environment for all employees involved.
