Hello there,
Welcome to the October/November issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety – this month is set to be a corker with a plethora of interesting feature sections, as well as the Health & Safety North Show Guide.
In our general features section we find out more about the importance of UV protection, even in September and October, from skin specialists Deb Group and Anglo American shed light on the benefits of employers adopting in-house AIDS testing procedures in areas with high infection rates.
Elsewhere we shine a spotlight on mental health and stress, catching up with Aggregate Industries who have introduced a company-wide Mental Health First Aider training scheme, which enables those trained to better understand their own mental health, as well as support their colleagues who may also be struggling.
In this section we also find out how Anxiety UK and the Royal Air Force have teamed up to tackle mental illness in working age veterans, and receive advice from Natwest Mentor’s Bob Christie on how employers can sensitively ease staff back into working life following mental health absences.
In our Construction and Site Safety section the Construction Industry Council tell us about their Built Environment Professional Education Project (BEPE), inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which aims to make inclusive design an essential part of the education and training of those in the industry.

We also hear from the British Cleaning Council about the importance of extensive workplace training on the issue of slips, trips and falls, which are currently the most common cause of specified injuries in the working environment.
Don’t forget to check out our Show Guide for the latest Health & Safety North show previews, and hopefully the Tomorrow’s Health & Safety team will see you on stand A16 in a few weeks time!
Enjoy the issue.
