Q1 Q2
What was your first job? My first job was as an Assistant
Structural Waterproofing Manager.
How did you get into the flooring industry?
I was first introduced into the construction industry by my dad, who worked for a company that carried out specialist installations. This included waterproofing, resin and concrete repairs, mortars, and so on. My progression with this company began with applying these products to floor areas I then went onto assist building a division to specifically carry out flooring projects.
Q3
What do you think the positives and negatives of
the flooring industry are? The main positive is the solution finding systems to meet the demands or needs of client criteria. On the negative side, like all trades rogue outfits are out there, often when installations go wrong the industry is tarred with the same brush and reputations have to be earned once more.
52 Q7
If you could hire any one person to be part of your team,
who would it be and why? It would have to be Chris Evans from TV and Radio, his vibrancy, enthusiasm, decisiveness and motivation skills should be an asset to most forward- thinking businesses.
If you won the lottery, what would be the first
thing you’d buy? I’d buy another ticket.
If you could have any super power, what would it be
and why? The power of foresight, imagine how many situations could be changed for the better with it.
If you could be one person for a day, who would it be
and why? I’d be my dad, to look at the industry and world through his eyes and get the perspective of his generation to see how it’s developed.
Q9
What would you like to see in a future issue of
Tomorrow’s Flooring? I’d like to see an article explaining the realisation of white resin floors and how they really should be expected to perform.
Q10
Which floor covering business do you most
admire and why? I make no apologies here, Flowcrete, because it has consistently led the market with new products, a diverse product range and increasing global market share.
