SECURE PAPERLESS DOCUMENT DELIVERY SET TO SPEED UP IMPLEMENTATION OF AIS

Hybrid mail company CFH Docmail Ltd has launched the latest software release of Dotpost, a secure online document delivery and depository portal, which includes modifications designed to help organisations providing NHS or adult social care to meet the Accessible Information Standard.

The service, which is free to patients, allows organisations to send confidential documents to their patients securely direct to their Dotpost account. Patients can then elect to receive documents via conventional post, large print or electronically.

Speaking about the new service, CFH Docmail’s Managing Director, Dave Broadway, commented: ‘This represents a further initiative as part of our commitment to helping our 3,000 GP and NHS customers to communicate with their patient

RETIREMENT DEVELOPMENT TO BENEFIT FROM POLYPIPE VENTILATION’S MEV SOLUTIONS

Polypipe Ventilation’s Silavent CMX Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) units with Domus Radial duct systems, have been specified for a new retirement housing development in Fleet, Hampshire.

Keble Court in Church Crookham is owned by Anchor, non-profit provider of housing and care for older people. When completed, it will consist of 72 luxury apartments and one guest suite over three storeys, including communal facilities. All apartments will come with continuous Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV), to improve indoor air quality and environmental comfort by reducing humidity within the dwelling.

At just 125mm in depth and 3.25kg in weight, the CMX is compact and

lightweight, enabling it to be easily installed into a central location such as a loft, cupboard space or even small ceiling voids. The CMX’s design also means that these units can be easily installed horizontally or vertically, ensuring ease of installation in limited or awkward spaces.

Polypipe Ventilation’s Domus Radial ducting system was chosen to work with the CMX. Richard Bamford Contracts Manager from building service Heatcare, who will be installing the product, commented: “The building is constructed via a fusion frame system, so the Domus

clients as efficiently and cost effectively as possible and to achieve their targets.

‘One of the key requirements of the Accessible Information Standard is the ability to provide information by email. However because email content is not encrypted as standard; its content is potentially open to interception and depending on the mail provider and network providers used, an email may be readable on any mail servers and proxy servers used to send and to access. Documents stored in Dotpost are encrypted on a per document basis, so only the recipient can actually open or view the contents of their documents.”

Dave Broadway continued: “When using Dotpost, only verified senders are able to send documents to users which reduce the risk of users receiving incorrect, misleading or malicious information from unverified sources. Email, on the other hand is subject to spoofing of sender identities and is a route for phishing attacks commonly used to gain access to people's accounts and sensitive

information for fraudulent purposes.”

“Importantly at a time of spending cuts, this method of delivering information has no set up cost and each mailing is only 10p for up to five sides, meaning information leaflets can be sent with the covering letters. It also means that documents are stored and available for future reference reducing the incidence of requests for duplicate information.”

With Dotpost senders are verified and the message being delivered is the actual document -rather than the document being an attachment to an email message. Dotpost is also available via the website and through both Android and iOS apps, meaning users can access their documents, securely, on the move.

Radial semi-rigid ducting was the most appropriate approach to the install. In addition to this, the system is a lot more cost effective on application, in regards to both labour and materials, ensuring a better overall solution in comparison to the other options we considered.”

Unlike traditional ducting systems, Domus Radial duct systems serve each room vent (air valve or grille) by singular or dual Ø75mm semi-rigid duct runs which connect directly to a central distribution system, splitting the air from a slim-line, compact Radial manifold. Domus Radial has been specifically designed for use within whole house ventilation systems and whilst it is much easier to design and install, its benefits also include less air leakage, increased air flow, easier installation and commissioning, as well as elimination of room to room cross talk and a reduction in air noise.
