RETAIL & DAYTIME CLEANING WHO YOU GONNA CALL?
A problem that has plagued cleaning operatives working in shopping centres, train stations, on the streets and indeed in any sector, is removing chewing gum. Next time you’re out and about take a look at the pavement beneath your feet. Did you notice the dirty round spots that blight surfaces everywhere and do you know what they are? You might be surprised to learn that it’s discarded chewed gum.
Visit any shopping centre, supermarket, school, university, sports stadium, any public area and you are almost guaranteed to find these spots on the floors and walls, street furniture and surrounding areas. Not only do they make the area unappealing and unattractive for visitors, it can also instigate further negative behaviour towards littering.
To try and combat this it is essential to encourage a ‘see it clean, keep it clean’ attitude. Previous gum removal technologies risked repetitive strain injuries for the operator or required the strength of Iron Man to carry a portable unit inside a rucksack.
