hen Physical Terapist Christina Platko ’16 envisions Raleigh J.


Finkelstein, the lead donor for the health campus expansion at Grand Valley, she pictures someone who is helping cause a Laker Effect: a force for positive change.


“I think he is someone who has


an interest in the advancement of health care. Obviously he is someone who is willing to make his own sacrifices to help others. He must be someone who cares about education and developing clinicians that can impact more people. In my opinion it seems like he must have a broad view of the future and the opportunity for impacting health care.” All of this and more is true. Raleigh J. Finkelstein saw a need in his community and embodies all of the characteristics Platko had envisioned. His selfless and hardworking nature led him to share his success with Grand Valley State University

As the leading provider of health care professionals in the region, Grand Valley has been committed to meeting the needs of the community in health care for decades. Unfortunately, demand has exceeded the capacity to accommodate students and programs. As a result, the university must turn away highly qualified applicants for the health sciences programs. More laboratory, classroom, and collaborative workspaces are needed so that Grand Valley can continue to attract highly talented students, faculty, and caregivers to our region.
