Pledge creates jobs boost H


UNDREDS of people across central Scotland have secured a job thanks to our Wheatley


Pledge Scheme.


The £1.5m scheme means companies who are suppliers and contractors to Wheatley Group and any of its partner organisations get a wage incentive to offer jobs and training opportunities to people living in our communities. The scheme is just one of our employability programmes funded by the Wheatley Foundation, our charitable trust. Over the past three years, 284 Wheatley Group customers have secured an apprenticeship, job or training place/internship thanks to the Wheatley Pledge – including 45 YourPlace customers. Cameron Moir, 18, from Ruchill in Glasgow, is a first year trade apprentice with City Building and one of three YourPlace customers who


recently secured his role through the Wheatley Pledge. He said: “I always wanted to take up a trade. I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship and the mix of theory and practical work is great. I’m already working on kitchens and bathrooms and gaining lots of great experience. “Wheatley Pledge is a great scheme.
