Out of this world... O
UR latest customer event started with a sci-fi quiz - then featured some lively chats about repairs
and letting homes. Held on May 4, our Customer
Conference gave owners and tenants a chance to share opinions and influence our services.
Customers, of all ages and backgrounds, told us what is important to them in a great repairs service. Views included good communication, convenient appointment times and ensuring a repair is completed right first time. And they suggested how we could best use our homes, including ways to encourage people living in large homes to think about downsizing. The feedback and ideas from the
conference will help us look at ways to improve our services in the future. Maureen Dowden, Wheatley’s Director of Governance, said: “It was great to see so many people come along and give us their views on our services. Repairs and
how we let our homes are two things we are looking to talk more to our customers about in the near future and customer feedback is central as we develop our services.”
Customers also heard about the Scottish Government’s review of the Social Housing Charter. The Charter, launched in 2012, sets out the outcomes all social landlords should achieve, including repairs, letting homes and delivering services to factored owners. Find out more at:

Attic space conversions
IF YOU live in a four-in-a-block, your attic space is shared with your neighbours. We have had some enquiries where
owners have converted the attic space in a four-in-a-block without consent as they’ve wrongly assumed the space belongs to them. Please check your title deeds
before doing any work, as the attic space in most four-in-a-block homes is common and can’t be altered. Owners should not be altering
any common part of the property without the consent of all other owners (including GHA if there is a tenant). You may also need to gain the appropriate permissions from the local authority planning department. If you need any advice, contact your factoring agent.
Another event is being planned for September and we hope customers who aren’t currently involved would consider coming along. If you would like to find out more about the next event or other ways you can influence what we do, call our engagement team on 0800 011 3816.
