Tidying up our communities O

VER the spring and summer we’re working with our environmental teams to improve open spaces

across our communities. Here are just a few examples of the work going on.

Village gets a spring clean The Commonwealth Village in Glasgow’s east end has got the feel-good factor again thanks to a community litter pick organised by YourPlace. Colleagues from YourPlace, GHA’s East End Community Homes and the local NETS staff joined village residents for a spring clean during the Easter school holidays. YourPlace Sales and Business

Growth Lead, Anne Marie Hardie, said: “YourPlace took on responsibility for land maintenance for the Village on 1 April. The litter pick was a great way to get off to a clean start. “We’re grateful to our colleagues from GHA and the local residents for putting in so much hard work.” The team filled 17 black bags on the day. The Village, which was originally built to house the athletes visiting Glasgow for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, is now home to a mix of social tenants and homeowners. Its 700 homes range from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom townhouses. YourPlace has also helped set up the Village Residents group which will meet regularly. Local residents will be able to get involved, and the first meeting is planned for later this year.

Cleaning up for Cube We are working to improve open spaces and back gardens across Cube communities. Our recent satisfaction survey results told us that this is really important to Cube homeowners, so we’re working hard to make improvements.

For example, in the Windsor estate in Clydebank, trained gardening staff are cutting back bushes and trees and bark is being laid to improve the look of the area. YourPlace staff are working closely with

local environmental staff to make sure all areas are brought up to standard. This will continue throughout the summer months. We’re also working with the local authority to make sure the areas they maintain are also kept up to the same standard.

Local kids pick up litter at Kingsway Local residents and school children

recently got together to tidy up the area around Kingsway Court in Scotstoun Glasgow. Pupils from St Pauls Primary School in Whiteinch and their teacher Lorna were joined by representatives from Scotstoun Community Council, The Dumbarton Road Corridor Trust, The Green Gym, The Health and Well Being Centre, along with GHA and YourPlace staff and customers. The team of over 40 local people worked

hard to pick up litter around the area. If you and your neighbours would

like to arrange a tidy up in your area, contact your factoring agent.
